The New Year in Vermont

Navah and I spent the New Year holiday in Burlington, Vermont, as we have done three out of the last four years.  It's always a wonderful time filled with lunches and brunches and potlucks and friends and a cozy fireplace.  Leaving is never easy.  This year, I had a little extra time and spent half a day driving on Route 2 from Burlington to Montpelier, taking some side roads along the way, mostly through Jericho and Bolton.

The drive was beautiful, and I delighted in all of the adorable houses along the way.

Some of them I could just barely see through the snow and bare trees.  So beautiful.

This barn captured me.

And then, of course, there was the positively delightful Montpelier.  I had never been, and I was pleasantly surprised.  Silly me, all this time thinking that Burlington was the only cute city in Vermont!

What other city has a precious courthouse like this one?  Well, I'm sure there is one, but I've never been there.

I loved it so much that I'm already conspiring with my Vermont buddies for a do over sometime this year!
